Calgary Field lacrosse has asked us to post this
information. For those who can't get enough lacrosse!
Field Lacrosse to begin soon! Help us out by registering early!
Our summer lacrosse season is fast approaching. This year we are asking players to register by June 24th (or earlier) so we can have some time to setup teams and plan the season. For those that register early, there are incentives:
The first 175 players to register will receive a FREE lacrosse bag valued at $50
If you register early, you can pick the best volunteer activities (yes, there is a volunteer requirement this year!)
The season will begin with practices on Tuesday, July 4th. The first games will be Thursday, July 13th. This year we are extending our season into the fall and will play once/week in September and October to about October 15th (weather permitting). We are currently working out the best times for this to avoid conflicts (as much as possible) with AAA Hockey and winter lacrosse but it will likely be Saturday afternoons.
We are also planning on putting together some travelling teams to attend tournaments over the winter. Last year we took a U13 team to Coquitlam BC in February and won gold! This year we would like to take both U13 and U16 teams to tournaments - possibly one in the fall and then return to Coquitlam in February.
Remember - the first 175 players to register will receive a FREE Calgary Field Lacrosse STX lacrosse bag valued at over $50.
Register NOW at www.calgaryfieldlacrosse.com
For those of you that are new to our program, here's some things you should know:
we expect players to be away for a portion of the season due to holidays, so don't worry if you are going to be away for part of the season
normally you need about 15-18 players for a team; we make up teams of 20-25 to accommodate the players that will be away; if a team is short, we trade players
our summer program is a 'recreational' program; there are no tryouts for the regular program and everyone plays
field lacrosse is a much more 'relaxed' setting and a lot of fun for the kids
Come on...think outside the Box! Play Field! Register now!

General Highlights for 2006:
we will run new player camps in June (dates to be announced)
fees remain unchanged at $125/player or a non-volunteer fee of $175
there is a bingo or volunteer position requirement for each registration unless you pay the 'non-volunteer' fee
the first 175 players registered will receive a free CFL/STX lacrosse bag ($50 value)
registration deadline of June 24th
season begins Tuesday, July 4th
each week we will practice on Tuesdays and play on Thursdays
Saturday, July 29th - Calgary Festival
Saturday, August 5th or August 12th - Edmonton Festival (to be confirmed)
Saturday, August 17th - Exhibition games in Lethbridge (to be confirmed)
Saturday, August 26th and 27th - Provincials in Red Deer
this year the season will extend into the fall; we will be playing once/week on either Saturday or Sunday in September up to about October 15th (exact time to be confirmed depending on AAA schedule, winter lacrosse schedule and field availability)
Other events:
- U16 nationals will be over the September long weekend in Victoria, BC. Tryouts for the U16 National Team will be held 'informally' at games and tryouts during the first part of the season and then tryout camps will be held on July 17th and 19th after which time the team will be selected. We may set another tryout date earlier in July....this and more information on U16 Nationals will be communicated in early June.
- A U13 Development Camp and Tournament will be held in Edmonton on September 16th and 17th (to be confirmed). This is an initiative of the Canadian Lacrosse Association to grow field lacrosse in the prairies. Players from Alberta, Sask and Manitoba will be there.
- Winter Program for 2006 - we are currently planning on taking teams to tournaments next November 2006 and February 2007; additional fees will apply and tryouts will be held for these teams; you must register and pariticipate in the Calgary Field Lacrosse program to be a part of the winter program
